Tan lines and stuff

Es regnet und donnert gerade so laut, dass ich meinen Film nicht mehr gut hören kann. Die letzten drei Tage waren so heiss wie vor zwei Monaten; die Sonne schien und jede Bewegung im Freien war mit Strömen von Schweiss verbunden. Dafür wurde ich nochmals etwas braun, inzwischen habe ich sogar eine Flipflop-Tan-Line :)

Und ja, gäll, schöne Pedicure?

Ich weiss gar nicht mehr so recht, was schreiben. Es ist mittlerweile alles so gewohnt. Meine Schüler sind inzwischen meine Facebook-Freunde (ganz schüchtern hat mich ein Schüler offenbar in Vertretung aller, die mich mit grossen Augen ansahen anstatt ihre Aufgaben zu lösen, gefragt, ob ich auf Facebook sei) und deswegen wusste ich in der letzten Woche gleich von dreien, dass sie Geburtstag hatten. Allerdings wird der hier nicht ansatzweise gefeiert wie bei uns. Manche kriegen etwas Geld, aber die meisten nicht mal ein spezielles Abendessen. Trotzdem - oder gerade deswegen - hatten sie riesig Freude, als ich ihnen gratulierte.

Ich sass im Flugzeug von Toronto nach London, als ich zum ersten Mal von Facebook hörte. Ich hatte zusammen mit dem jungen Schotten im Sitz neben mir "Spiderman 3" geschaut (und wir fanden ihn beide doof) und es war der erste Flug, auf dem ich Alkohol trank. Als wir landeten, fragte er mich, ob ich auf Facebook sei. 2007. (Habe übrigens gerade die beste Fan-Kritik am Film gelesen: "spiderman 3 was the best spiderman movie in the whole world it was so good critics dont know much people watch movies for entertainment not just to see a smart movie". Right.)

  

Drückt mir die Daumen fürs Euchre-Spiel, mittlerweile sind wir nach einem kurzen Höhenflug auf Seiten von Josh wieder gleichauf. Es bleibt spannend bis zur letzten Minute (anders als mein Blog.) Im Foto ausser den Karten und meinen schön gemanicurten Fingernägeln der beste, erfrischendste Fruchtshake von Paksé: Mac Muu und Mac Strawberry (Wassermelone und Erdbeere) von Pizzaboy. Wo die Mädels alle in Josh verknallt sind und ihn dann trotzdem mit Alex verwechseln.

The rain is so heavy and the thunder so loud that I can't hear the movie I'm watching anymore. The last three days were as hot as it was two months ago, and every movement outside was connected with streams of sweat. But I got a nice tan during my short bike ride last sunday, I even have a flipflop tan line :)

I don't really know what to write about anymore. Everything is as usual. Most of my students are my friends on Facebook by now (one of them had to ask me - for all of the class, obviously - if I was on Facebook, in the middle of the lesson, when I had asked them to do a task in the workbook) and that's how I knew that last week were the birthdays of three of them. Apparently they don't celebrate it like we do, some of them get some money from their parents, but some don't even have a special dinner. Still, they seemed to be very happy that I congratulated them.

Please, wish me luck for the Euchre-game. After a short high on Josh's side we're even again. It's going to stay interesting till the last second (unlike my blog, I know). In the photo, apart from the cards and my beautifully manicured nails, is Pakse's best fruit shake: watermelon / strawberry, made by Pizzaboy. Where all the girls have a crush on Josh. But confuse him with Alex.
