Thank God it's Friday.
Weiterbildung wo, was, wie teuer... Stipendien?
Was sonst so läuft an einem faulen Tag hier?
Thank God it's Friday.
As usual, that means hanging out at the office, finishing
some teaching stuff, later there's the weekly staff meeting, and in the
evening hanging out with folks from the office somewhere else. And it
means: cooking with our three Lao housekeepers. Today we "cooked" salad,
ten minutes of chopping tomatoes and cucumbers, done.
Enough
time to think a little about my professional future. Further education,
where, what, how much... Scholarship? Nope, no chance, says the online
scholarship calculator. How much is the train ticket to Lucerne, when
are the different courses, how many credits, and could I do a Master's
degree? And, more important: With all the courses I have to bring a
cultural project to plan during the course. Either a project that I
started myself, or one that's connected with my job. That I don't have
yet. But that's OK, I'm not worrying about that, everything will turn
out well and I'll eventually be in the right place.
What else am I doing on a lazy day here? Surf on Pinterest,
make albums with DIY-stuff for when I'm back home, styles that I like,
beautiful things. After the staff meeting I'll go to the market, buy
fruit for my breakfast and ginger to make tea. I ate two wonderful
papayas last week (did you know they look like pumpkins?), and the
little lychees that come in bundles still hanging on dry branchlets are
in season too. I need a lightbulb for my nightstand light. Oh, last
night when I went to the toilet there was a giant spider in the hall, at
least 12 cm big and with fat legs. I chased it away with a bucket of
water but still, my heart is thumping and now I wait for five seconds
until the light is on, before I enter the bathroom. Horrible, if the
beast made it into my room... By the way, the biggest spider in the world lives in Laos. In the north, fortunately, in cool caves. (Have I already blogged about it or does it just feel familiar? Never mind.)
Besides that - maybe we'll go to Pizzaboy for a fruit shake
and a game of cards with Josh. After two weeks we're still even. And
what the winner after six weeks of playing will get we still haven't
defined. (I didn't agree with Josh's ideas...)
Speaking
of playing: I'm really glad I miss the European soccer cup. Just the
Facebook-chats where I'd have no chance and no desire to participate.
What surprised me is that I enjoyed reading some portraits of the
excentric soccer players. But this is rather due to my interest in
portraits as a text genre, and not my interest in sports.
