Koh Tao, Randoms

Here it is.

No photoshop, original pictures from my own camera: Koh Tao is paradise! Sandy beaches, coral reefs all around the island, cheap good Thai food.

But, dear guys - moustaches? That's just... not right at the beach. Seriously. (Neither are Neon yellow, pink or green semi-transparent bathing shorts.) #badtaste #kindderachtziger #postnerd #häschnoeshandtäschliwelledezue

Have I mentioned that I missed concerts, arts, culture during my time in Paksé? On the bus to the border I sat between a film critic and an artlover. Both Thai. Very special people - well-travelled, well-educated, open-minded. And guess who I did my Open Water course with: a filmmaker and a writer.

My new Thai favourite food: Fried rice, mixed with green curry. Yummmmmy.

Scuba-diving was great. But: Snorkeling is the way I really want to spend my summer vacations in the future! I LOVE the freedom, the simplicity, all the colourful fish, the different coral shapes, the flashes of light in the shallow turquoise water. My favourite (live) fish is the Red-breasted Wrasse:

(not 100% the one I always saw, but note the funny teeth and creative make-up! :) )

My favourite dead fish: Barracuda filet, filled with cherry tomatoes and feta cheese, wrapped in parma ham. #revelation @Barracuda Restaurant

Best of the books I read while getting a nice tan and sipping mango shakes: "People Of The Book" by Geraldine Brooks. (Deutsch: "Die Hochzeitsgabe")

2 weeks at the beach equal 200ml of sunscreen. Or a little bit more: When I ran out on the last day I got sunburnt although I stayed in the shade. Should have known better. (Nei ned so schlimm Mami, nur es bitzli. Isch scho bruun jetz.)

A girl needs the right pedi to go on holidays:

I think the Thai government should have paid ME a ridiculously high amount of money for staying 3 days too long in their country, and not the other way round. #could'veboughtanotherpairofshoes

Now I'm back in Paksé. For a few days, before I'll be on my way back home-home. So that's probably gonna be one of my last blog posts. There's one more to come about a derelict resort and a dead sailor. Hoooooh!
